A number of Americans stationed in Iraq unexpectedly passed away twelve years ago. In a killing spree, Griffin Callenreese murdered a number of his fellow soldiers while screaming only the phrase "Banana Fish" until he passed out. Aslan, his younger brother, has gained notoriety as Ash Lynx, the head of a street gang, on the streets of New York today. The charming and charismatic kid, who had a horrible childhood, is now as cunning as he is lethal. He also benefited from his association with the gangster Dino Golzine, who once abducted Ash Lynx and forced him into prostitution.

The recent string of strange suicides and Ash's brother's disappearance become more clear when one day an unidentified man delivers him a cartridge case containing a narcotic before passing away shortly after. A Japanese journalist and his 19-year-old assistant Eiji Okumura visit the city after learning about the incidents. They immediately make the connection between Ash Lynx and the most recent events.
