In the anime Beastars, which is based on the Paru Itagaki manga of the same name, anthropomorphized animals rule the earth. Because of the toughest restrictions, predators and herbivores cohabit together, although this coexistence inevitably has its own challenges. Innocent herbivores are frequently the victims of violent crimes, and the illegal cattle trade thrives in the shadows of major cities. The elite Cherryton Academy has made it its purpose to serve as a role model for cohabitation in this society, but even here the façade slowly starts to fall apart.
The academic year at Cherryton Academy is full of hopes, dreams, and romance as well as mistrust and anxiety for the pupils. Peace can only be kept in a classroom where pupils are figuratively split between predators and prey by their connections with one another. However, the school's order is upended when a member of the theater club is killed and eaten one day. The wolf Legoshi is instantly identified as a suspect. The wolf protests his innocence and asserts that he cannot harm a fly, but when he is close to the dwarf rabbit Haru, he finds it difficult to control his urges. Is the large, malevolent wolf infatuated or does he genuinely find Haru delicious...?
