Japan in the year 2105: The development of the very sophisticated android hIE, whose AI vastly exceeds that of humans, has led to the creation of beings that are both technologically advanced and beyond the comprehension of humanity. However, they have been accepted into society in order to perform activities that people are unable or unwilling to perform. Arato Endou, 17, has a soft spot for these hIE, in contrast to his pals Kengo and Ryou, despite the fact that most people only view them as objects.
