Yuu just began her freshman year of high school. A boy who had always liked her declared his love to her at her middle school graduation party, but she did not respond to him until now since she did not find his confession moving. She adores shoujo manga and has a preconceived notion of how such a declaration of love should make her feel; however, she did not experience this and struggled for months to come up with the appropriate response.
Yuu observes Touko Nanami, her senpai and a member of the student council, politely rejecting such a statement of love after a few days at her new school. She subsequently finds out from her that she never followed through on any of these confessions because, like Yuu, she had no emotion toward them. She seeks Nanami for guidance because she feels inspired by her candor and recognizes her as a kindred soul, but once Touko offers her assistance, she gives something back that Yuu did not anticipate.
