Daigo Kagemitsu, lord of the castle and a vassal of the feudal lord of Kaga Province, renounces Buddhism and begins to worship twelve demons to gain control at any costs as war and plague begin to have an impact on his zone of influence. When his kid is born, it becomes clear what he had to pay for his prayers because he is born with severe birth defects, lacking any skin, limbs, or eyes. A young man in shabby clothing who wears a mask and prosthetic limbs in place of his own finds Dororo, a parentless boy who has been keeping his head above water with different racketeering operations, while running from some hoodlums sixteen years later. The masked man appears to have little trouble defeating the mud-wrapped beast that suddenly emerges from a nearby river and devours Dororo's pursuit. Dororo, who is astounded by the powers of the undiscovered, agrees to travel with him.
