Actually, you start making major plans for the future when you're 16 years old. Not Ohana though—despite lacking a significant life goal and feeling disenchanted by her mostly careless mother, she is anything but impatient about the future and longs for more diversity and excitement in the present. This wish comes true earlier than anticipated when her mother leaves Ohana to live with her grandma in the country after fleeing with her boyfriend to avoid his creditors. Although she is completely unknown to Ohana, the fact that she manages a quaint hotel with its own hot spring outside of town gives Ohana more than enough of a reason to look forward to this change of scenery because she sees it as a chance to try new things and possibly change the course of her life.
