Hotel Transylvania is a 2012 American 3D computer-animated horror comedy film produced by Sony Pictures Animation. It was directed by Genndy Tartakovsky, and it stars Adam Sandler, Andy Samberg, Selena Gomez, Kevin James, Fran Drescher, Steve Buscemi, Molly Shannon, David Spade and CeeLo Green. The film tells the story of Count Dracula (Sandler), the owner of a hotel called Hotel Transylvania where monsters can take a rest from human civilization. When one ordinary human (Samberg) stumbles upon the hotel on vacation with his daughter Mavis (Gomez), Dracula must protect his family from the outsider's meddling while also keeping Mavis away from her love interest (James).
The film was released on September 28th 2012 and grossed over $350 million worldwide against its budget of $85 million. It received generally positive reviews from critics who praised its animation and comedic style. A sequel to the film titled Hotel Transylvania 2 was released in 2015.
