In his class, Haruki Shiga is not well liked since he is an antisocial recluse who loves to spend his time reading. With her outgoing attitude and strong moral character, Sakura Yamauchi is well-liked all across the world. Despite how drastically different they are from one another, they eventually become one. Haruki discovers a little book called Living with Death, a diary that details a dying person's day-to-day activities, while he waits to be called at the hospital. It doesn't take long for his classmate Sakura, the owner of the book, to arrive. Sakura has pancreatic illness, and although modern medicine allows her to enjoy a life that is virtually normal, she will soon pass away.
