Four high school ladies Konata, Kagami, Tsukasa, and Miyuki, as well as their friends and families, are depicted in Lucky Star as they go about their daily lives. The myriad oddities of Japanese culture are revealed via their encounters and dialogues with one another about God and the world. Konata, who has no interest in anything else and whose schoolwork suffers from her excessive intake of anime and video games, is highlighted here in especially as an example of the otaku subculture, which Kagami frequently pokes fun at.
The chats on Lucky Star are delightfully absurd and amusing, covering subjects whose entertainment value is probably something no one would have anticipated. In addition, it stands for one of the best parodies of Japanese otaku culture.
