Hikari, Manaka, Chisaki, and Kaname are marine dwellers who are fish people. The four pals are, however, compelled to attend school on dry ground after their underwater school is shut down. Their new students there treat them unfairly, therefore the first argument is actually preplanned. Manaka is saved by Tsumugu Kihara, who had already caught her attention in class with his unconventional demeanor, when she takes to her heels in response to more taunts from her classmates and tumbles down an embankment in the nearby forest. However, Manaka's childhood buddy Hikari is not overly thrilled about the idea of her making friends with a human guy.
