The Duke of York's son is born on a stormy night as the Wars of the Roses wreak havoc on England. Richard Plantagenet III is a unique child who possesses both masculine and feminine traits. As a result, people who were supposed to parent him rapidly reject him. His father aims to depose King Henry VI through him and take over as ruler.
But from the beginning, Richard is troubled by visions of England's former nemesis Jean D'Arc, who foretells that he will soon bring the entire nation to disaster.
