Tokyo, 1887. Himura Kenshin, a wanderer, arrives in the city. He just has a sword and an X-shaped scar on his cheek. Kenshin, a once renowned samurai, has pledged never to murder another person. Since then, he has fought using a blade that has been sharpened inside so that no one is wounded. Yet the lone wanderer is unable to find rest. Japan's political landscape during the Meiji era is in disarray.
