The King of Fighters 2001 is a fighting game and the eighth installment of The King of Fighters series. It was released in 2001 by SNK Playmore for the Neo Geo arcade and home console. The game features a total of 34 playable characters, including some returning characters from previous titles, as well as some brand new ones. Players can choose to play in either single-player or two-player mode, with up to four players in team battles. The game also features several different gameplay modes such as "Advanced Mode", which allows players to customize their character's moveset, and "Extra Mode", which allows them to use special items during battle.
