The Little Mermaid is a 1989 American animated musical fantasy film produced by Walt Disney Feature Animation and released by Walt Disney Pictures. Loosely based on the Danish fairy tale of the same name by Hans Christian Andersen, The Little Mermaid tells the story of a beautiful mermaid princess who dreams of becoming human.
The film follows Ariel, a mermaid princess, who falls in love with Prince Eric after rescuing him from drowning. With the help of her friend Sebastian, an adventurous crab, and her guardian sea witch Ursula, she makes a deal to trade her voice for legs so she can be with Eric. But when Ursula takes advantage of Ariel’s naivety and tricks her into signing away her soul, it’s up to Ariel to save herself and set things right in order to get back what she has lost.
