The Princess and the Frog is a 2009 American animated musical fantasy comedy-drama film produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures. The 49th Disney animated feature film, the film is loosely based on the novel The Frog Princess by E.D. Baker, which is in turn based on the Brothers Grimm fairy tale "The Frog Prince". Set in New Orleans during the Jazz Age, the story follows a hardworking waitress named Tiana who dreams of owning her own restaurant. After kissing a prince who has been turned into a frog by an evil voodoo sorcerer, Tiana becomes a frog herself and must find a way to turn back into a human before it's too late. With help from her friends—a trumpet-playing alligator, Louis; firefly Ray; and Cajun firefly Evangeline—Tiana embarks on an adventure through Louisiana's bayous in search of the mysterious hoodoo man Doctor Facilier who can reverse the spell.
